We saw kangaroos, wallabies, pademelons and potaroos plus birds galore.

Visited this park to complete the Springlawn Nature walk one of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks. It was an easy flat walk with plenty of flora and fauna. The walking track in some places is not well marked so does involve some freestyle but still enjoyable and not an issue. Such a nice day we broke off and walked to Bakers Beach. It appeared to be kilometres of clean, deserted pristine beach. What a bonus. The other bonus was discovering the well maintained, clean and powered camp sites on offer at this park.

Baker’s Beach is well worth the visit. If it hadn’t been so cold that day I would’ve loved to have gone for a swim! If you can’t do the entire Springlawn walk, at least have a quick look at the bird hide, which is well worth the short walk.

The Springlawn area of the park is a large flat meadow where you can see animals grazing in the late afternoon and morning.

Springlawn campground is next to the Springlawn meadow which makes it handy for evening wildlife spotting.  There were plenty of kangaroos, wallabies, pademelons and potaroos in the campsite.

The Bakers Point campground (unpowered) looked nice, especially if you can secure one of the waterfront sites.

The nature walk is an easy track around the lagoon (allow a couple of hours to do the loop) but there were lots of pademelons and potaroos around in the late afternoon and a few water birds on the lagoon.

Fanifully des ribed as Tasmania's Serengetti, this national park is certainly teemong with wildlife.

Terrific National Park. Did a short two hour walk around the lagoon and saw lots of Tasmanian Potaroos through the forest and a range of kangaroos and wallabies while walking across the grassy flats

The water in the amenities block is brown which can be disconcerting but it is quite safe for flushing and hand washing. There are no showers.

A fair few KMs of dirt road, but worth the drive. Beautiful scenery and a beautiful beach, just watch out for the rocks and undercurrents. Well worth the drive and highly recommended.
